* Why do we need to support dual versions?  I don't see any drawbacks of everyone just switching to 1.1 since it's more or less backwards compatible entirely, and us enforcing that change by whatever means possible.  The new features will make it attractive for server admins to upgrade, and we could try and work on the overall switchover process.  This could involve releasing the server early, giving a client release date, and making sure all server admins are ready for the switch.

Dual version vision

  • Why do we need to support dual versions? I don't see any drawbacks of everyone just switching to 1.1 since it's more or less backwards compatible entirely, and us enforcing that change by whatever means possible. The new features will make it attractive for server admins to upgrade, and we could try and work on the overall switchover process. This could involve releasing the server early, giving a client release date, and making sure all server admins are ready for the switch. --Talidan 16:18, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
